Instrumentation & Control (IC) Engineering Department is established in 1997 with sanctioned intake of 30 under Veer Narmad South Gujarat University. Now under Gujarat Technological University, the sanctioned intake is 60. With Excellent Laboratory and Class Rooms facility the IC department has well experienced and skilled teaching and non teaching staff. I &C department is running ISA Student chapter under which activities like expert talk, alumni talk and other technical and non-technical activities are carried out. I & C department is organizing industrial visits and also encouraging students for vocational training in various industries. With the joint effort of T & P cell and I & C department, our students are placed at reputed industries like L&T, L&T Infotech, Reliance Industries Ltd., ABB Ltd., Essar Steel, Bhabha Atomic Research Center (BARC), DRDO, Shell, YOKOGAWA to name a few. Many of our students have completed further studies in foreign countries and got very well jobs.

To provide highest value of knowledge to next generation of Instrumentation &Control engineers through scientific media and outreach programs.

To make the students technically competitive and absorbable to industries and competent for higher studies at world best universities by using latest state of the art teaching methods, research and involvement of industry.

After graduation, the students will be able to:

  1. Use fundamental knowledge and skills in automation technology and application oriented control engineering.
  2. Adopt systems approach in multi-disciplinary projects.
  3. Use analytical skills and thereby adapt the rapidly changing technologies.
  4. Be able to attain positions in research, development, production and management.
  5. Persue higher studies at national as well as international universities.
  6. Inculcate professional and ethical attitude and ability to relate automation issues to society at large.

  1. An ability to apply knowledge of Mathematics, Science and Engineering to Instrumentation and Control Discipline
  2. An ability to design and conduct experiments for measurement, measurement devices / elements, Control System, variety of control algorithms paradigms, final control elements, etc., and ability to analyze and interpret data.
  3. Be able to analyze new tasks and problems, choose suitable solution methods, determine and evaluate correct solutions, and present the results.
  4. Be able to work effectively in a multidisciplinary projects as a team member.
  5. Assess and Evaluate the social impact of automation, safety aspects of automation, hazards associated with various processes, environmental issues, professional ethics, etc. and also in a global and economic context.
  6. An ability to communicate effectively in oral and written form while formulating project proposals, reports and other related documents.
  7. Demonstrate the knowledge and capabilities necessary for pursuing a professional career or graduate studies; recognize the need for continuing professional development.
  8. Ability to select and use latest hardware and software tools for various processes and systems.
  9. Select various sensors / transducers, Control systems, complete automation system.
  10. Demonstrate proficiency in using a high-level / low level programming languages and network protocols for embedded system applications and networked systems.
