R & D cell is organizing an introductory 3-D printing workshop (max. 2 hrs. session) on 9th october, 2026 from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm.
The details are as follow:
Title: Design to Print: Introduction to CAD and FDM 3D Printing
Invited Student Experts: Bhavya Ladumor from IT
Vansh Patel from Electrical
(Both students have vital 3-D printing experience and they are the users of our Bamboo lab 3-D printer)
Target Audience: Faculty members and interested academic staff.
Duration:1.5 to 2 hours
Mode;Hands-on / Demonstration Workshop
Venue: TBD
Prerequisites: No prior 3D-printing experience required. Basic computer familiarity is sufficient.
Objective: The workshop aims to introduce participants to the complete workflow of additive manufacturing, starting from designing a basic mechanical component in CAD software and ending with its physical fabrication using the Bambu Lab A1 FDM 3D printer.
Participants will understand:
- Basics of 3D modelling and CAD
- Designing a printable component
- Exporting a CAD model as STL
- Understanding STL and mesh geometry
- Importing the model into Bambu Studio
- Printer, filament and build-plate selection
- Slicing and generating toolpaths
- Understanding important print parameters
- Sending the sliced model to the Bambu Lab A1
- Starting and monitoring a print
- Basic troubleshooting and post-processing
- Design considerations for successful 3D printing
Expected Outcome
By the end of the workshop, participants will be able to understand and demonstrate the complete:
Idea → CAD Model → STL → Slicer → G-code/Toolpath → 3D Printer → Physical Object
