THE STUDENT STARTUP AND INNOVATION CELL (SSIC)

Globally, the best start-up ecosystems are built around academia. The SCET SSIC thus strives to create a conducive environment, where in academia, industry,  government, and civil society can work jointly to address the current demands through technology and innovations.
Student Startup and Innovation Policy of Gujarat was launched by the Education Department, Government of Gujarat to facilitate building innovation and pre-incubation processes across the state. Under the aegis of the policy, Sarvajanik College of Engineering & Technology (SCET) inscribed an MoU in MAY 2019 with the policy’s central implementation nodal agency, Gujarat Knowledge Society. As part of the policy, the Government of Gujarat provides SCET with an annual grant of INR 50 lakhs. This grant empowers SCET to develop a self-sufficient motto driven ecosystem among the student community.

Objectives
  • To facilitate, encourage, promote, and safeguard scientific inquiry, research pursuits, and the academic freedom of its faculty, researchers, and students;
  • To create awareness and provide guidance to the academic and non-academic staff of the institute including students on the practices and the rules and regulations of various forms of intellectual property rights (IPRs) especially patent filing and Startup registration.

To propagate Startup and Innovation on campus:-
The cell undertakes several initiatives to support students, young entrepreneurs, Innovators, and startups on the campus, and provide them the support to validate their proof of concepts, prototypes, patents, mentorship, and guidance. In totality, we have been conducting activities periodically to sustain our goals.

To mention a few:

  6. Idea pitching
Apart from this, the Institute has initiated to develop a state of an art "Innovation Lab.” All the departments are collaboratively strengthening the resources for the same. 

Outcome:-
We have successfully achieved substantiate yet extravagant increase in the number of on-campus innovation and motto-driven activities for the same.
